Starfish Dog Rescue is a small organisation which rescues and rehomes dogs and other pets.
We help people who are no longer able to keep their pets to find an alternative home for them, where they will be loved and cared for just as much as they have been in their original home. We also take in abandoned and unwanted pets and work to find a permanent loving home for them.
If you need help in finding a new home for your pet, or if you can offer a dog or other animal a new, loving home then please use our contact page to get in touch. Also please visit our Facebook page on https://www.facebook.com/#!/StarfishDogRescue

STARFISH DOG RESCUE - Our Story
A rescue started out of a need.
One our volunteers, as a family, spent a lot of time in Spain. She had
always been involved with dog rescue for years ,working for larger organisations
as a volunteer and a foster carer of dogs in the family home in Gloucestershire ,
completely unaware of the problems abroad. Popping into a Charity Shop in a village
in Spain is where her life changed, and how Starfish was born.
She was taken to a local dog sanctuary, and was completely overwhelmed by all the
lovely dogs there with no homes - beautiful lovely natured dogs that had been
abandoned and neglected, the majority of them with no issues and with amazing
temperaments - just needing that chance - she came away completely overwhelmed,
but agreed initially to help two ,Sophia & Fiona above, and see what happened. The name 'Starfish' came from the poem - one that described an over whelming problem that was
never going to be rectified completely, but we could make a difference to some.

Starfish also helps the UK dogs ,usually locally in Gloucestershire, although we have taken
from further afield . We also help some of the dogs that find themselves in Bristol Dog Pound too.
We tend to help the more vulnerable dogs here and abroad ,and you can see some of
our stories. Starfish is run completely by volunteers, mostly locally. We do not use
kennels, but foster homes. We are a small rescue that has organically grown slowly over
the years with the support of local people, and people have adopted from us and our Vets.
We are a small rescue trying to make a difference and do things properly.

All our dogs get the best care- all their medical needs are met- all our animals are
neutered, vaccinated and health checked before they leave us. If they need further
medication or attention and it's expensive we will run fund raisers to make sure they get everything they need to be healthy and happy again.

We take great care over the rehoming of our dogs and cats, to make sure it's the perfect
match. All applicants are home checked, and fully supported through the whole process.
Our dogs have back up for the rest of their lives with Starfish, and all adopters have life
time support, and advice too.

A small personal rescue, trying to make a difference to both our dogs and the people
who adopt them.
